New Ikebana – The Floral Art of Tomorrow at Żyrowa Palace

Klaus Wagener’s Seminar – A Unique Highlight of the Silesian Flowers Festival 2025

Floristry is not just a craft – it is a true art form, a dialogue between the beauty of nature and the imagination of the creator. It is a space where plant aesthetics meet creativity, and where tradition blends seamlessly with bold experimentation. This is the philosophy embodied by Klaus Wagener, world-renowned master florist, who will lead a unique seminar titled “New Ikebana” at the picturesque Żyrowa Palace on 16 August 2025.

This event will be one of the major highlights of this year’s Silesian Flowers Festival, offering participants an inspiring encounter with a modern interpretation of Japanese floral art.

A Master Who Inspires the World

Klaus Wagener is a household name among floristry professionals: World Champion of Floristry, author of numerous publications, co-founder of the prestigious Blooms publishing house, and a charismatic lecturer. His works combine a deep respect for tradition with a constant search for new, innovative forms of artistic expression.

During the seminar at Żyrowa Palace, the master will present around 20 original floral arrangements, demonstrating how Ikebana can be reimagined in a modern, international context. Participants will have the opportunity to witness the creative process up close and learn about the techniques, materials, and inspirations behind these masterpieces.

New Ikebana – A Bridge Between Tradition and Modernity

Ikebana, literally meaning “living flowers,” originated in Japan in the 15th century. It has always been more than decoration – it is a form of meditation, an expression of spirituality, and a manifestation of harmony with nature.

New Ikebana, as presented by Klaus Wagener, is a contemporary response to this centuries-old tradition. It combines Japanese philosophy with artistic freedom and a willingness to experiment.

Key features include:

  •     openness to experimentation and the use of new materials (glass, metal, plastics)
  •     a departure from rigid rules and fixed forms
  •     emphasis on the individual expression of the artist
  •     the ability to create anywhere, by anyone, with any materials
  •     highlighting the dialogue between nature and contemporary art

Blooms – A Source of Inspiration

The seminar will also provide an opportunity to purchase publications by Klaus and Bernhild Wagener from the prestigious Blooms publishing house, including a unique photo album dedicated to New Ikebana – filled with photographs, inspiration, and practical tips.
